Community Place Café
PBUUC is one of several churches that prepare and serve a hot lunch to homeless and low-income individuals and families through the Community Café located in the First United Methodist Church of Hyattsville.
The Café serves more than 12,000 hot, nutritious lunches each year at no cost to homeless and low-income individuals and families. The Café, open Monday through Wednesday and Friday feeds a daily average of 60 persons. PBUUC's turn to serve lunch is the fourth Tuesday of every month. The menu consists of hot chili on a bun, pineapple chunks, cookies, and a cold drink. (Other congregations in the Community Ministry of Prince George's County take turns on other weekdays.)
A network of volunteers from more than 40 congregations, businesses, and civic organizations prepare and serve each meal. They also provide smiles and friendly greetings for their many guests.
If you have some free time during the day on the fourth Tuesday, please consider helping out and making a direct difference in someone's life. For more information, send an email to .
