The Chalice Dancers bring the joy of sacred movement into Sunday worship services. They expand and redefine the liturgical dance tradition for the Unitarian Universalist faith and the 21st century through their dance presentations and congregational movement. They  are committed to bringing movement into the worship experience and the community. Sacred dance is an expression of faith.

They have been a part of PBUUC since 1994, and have been led by Sharon Werth, Artistic Director, for over 20 years. The Chalice Dancers continue to envision ways of enhancing church life through liturgical dance. Collaborations with the choir, young people, musicians, poets and other dance groups enrich their offerings. Dancers include people with different dance traditions and abilities.

The troupe has performed at neighboring UU congregations, houses of worship of other faith traditions, Riderwood and other senior centers, and the Joseph Priestley District Racial Justice Conference. Their 16th Annual Dance Service – Resistance, Resilience Renewal – is a part of the UUA On-demand library of virtual services for GA 2021. This year they will present their 19th Annual Dance Service on April 28, 2024.

Over the years, the strength of the group continues to attract new members, from nearby UU congregations and other religious communities. In every dance, in any setting, the Chalice Dancers derive joy and inspiration from moving in the spirit, in community and for community.
