Erica Shadowsong
Director of Religious Exploration
Erica Shadowsong has spent a lot of her time looking for ways to combine her loves of the performing arts, literature, and world cultures in both her professional and personal life.
She received a B.A. in English from George Mason University in 2002, and went on to study folklore in graduate school, where she discovered professional storytelling. She has taught English as a middle school teacher and been an SAT instructor, and currently teaches English as a Foreign Language to adult students as well. When not working as a teacher, she finds opportunities to perform as a storyteller and vocalist. She also sings with a local choir called the Six Degree Singers, and sometimes finds time to read for pleasure and write. Erica is married and has two cats with her husband.
As Director of Religious Exploration, Erica brings her passion for global cultural awareness and human rights, as well as her education background, to her work. She works closely with the RE Committee to help shape the vision and direction of the RE program, recruit and support teachers, and create a family-friendly and truly intergenerational atmosphere at Paint Branch Unitarian Universalist Church.
