Our Next Minister

Board of Trustees
Letter to the Congregation
Rev. Anthony Jenkins, Our Next Minister
Tuesday, May 14, 2024

Dear Members and Friends of Paint Branch,

I am writing to share some wonderful and exciting news. On Saturday, May 11th, your Board of Trustees entered an agreement with Rev. Anthony Jenkins to serve as our next minister. His term, which will begin on August 1st, for four years with an option to renew.

Many of us know Rev. Anthony, who has graced our pulpit many times in the past few years. His worship services have been inspiring, insightful, wise, poetic, and musical, appealing to both the head and the heart.

Rev. Anthony has served as a chaplain in the US military since 2014. He earned his Master of Divinity degree from Meadville Lombard Theological School in 2017. He was an assistant minister at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Columbia and an affiliate minister with the Church of the Larger Fellowship.

In its recommendation to the Board, the Ministerial Search Committee cited Rev. Anthony’s leadership qualities, empathy, and relatability, all of which will serve him well as the leader of pastoral care.

During my recent conversation with Rev. Anthony, he spoke fondly of his many visits to Paint Branch and the warmth with which he was welcomed. His experiences here played an important part in his decision to become our minister. He knows us well and is eager to assist our efforts to meet our developmental goals. Our mission discernment process will continue.

We owe a debt of gratitude to the members of the Ministerial Search Committee for their hard work and dedication. Abby Crowley, Eric Eldritch, Don Gerson, Sabrina Jones, Carol Carter Walker, and Kathi Yu have given their time and energy to the important task of finding the right person for our next ministry. They succeeded and we thank them.

The Board will share information with you soon about opportunities to meet Rev. Anthony, and plans for the beginning of his time with us.

As always, feel free to contact the Board with any comments or questions by writing to us at BOT@pbuuc.org.

In joy and hope,
Leo
Board Chair
