On August 1, 2024 PBUUC will joyfully welcome our new minister, Rev. Anthony Jenkins. He is a proud native of DC/Maryland/Virginia who also called upstate NY home for a significant chunk of his childhood. Among many other things, Anthony is a 19-year practitioner of daily meditation, a spiritual alchemist & contemplative, a pescetarian (mostly), a lover of bone-dry red oaky peppery wines, a highly kinesthetic learner, a poster child INFP, an Enneagram 9, a surprisingly ineffective bowler, a decent Spades partner, a tenured Ravens/Orioles/Wizards/Capitals fan, and a consistent doppelganger for the late-great actor (and fellow UU) Andre Braugher.
Anthony currently serves as a military chaplain in the US Air Force. Previously, he served for 10 years in the U.S. Army – 5 years in Army Bands, and 5 years in the Army’s Chaplain Corps. He has the dubious distinction of having held the two military ranks with arguably the least amount of in-house prestige – E-4/Corporal and O-1/Second Lieutenant.
Anthony earned a Bachelors in Music (Bass/Performance) from Morgan State University in 2005. He has been blessed to work as a professional bassist for musical artists all across the genre-spectrum regionally, nationally, and internationally since 1999. Additionally, he has served for over a decade as one of the bassists in the Music Ministry at Temple Rodef Shalom in VA.
Anthony earned a Masters of Divinity from Meadville Lombard Theological School in May 2017. He was ordained in October 2017 at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Columbia (MD), where he served for 7 years as intern Minister and then Assistant Minister. He has also served as a chaplain at Johns Hopkins Bayview Hospital in Baltimore.
Anthony, his beloved bride Sarah, and their two children currently reside in Ellicott City, MD.
