The purpose of the Racial Climate Coalition (RCC) is to promote congregation-wide collaboration on creating a healthy racial climate at PBUUC. Racial climate refers to patterns of interactions around race and racism.

The RCC was launched in 2022 to coordinate racial justice work recommended in the PBUUC Racial Climate Assessment report which was commissioned by the Board of Trustees in 2020. PBUUC has a history of learning about and addressing these matters through the Diversity Antiracism Transformation Team, adoption of the 8th Principle, Widening the Circle of Concern study groups and other efforts to learn and grow. We acknowledge growth and progress and that we have much to learn and do.

The RCC meets monthly and brings together representatives from committees and affinity groups, Board members, church officers, and staff as well as members and friends.

Your ideas, energy, and commitment to creating a healthy racial climate at PBUUC are needed and greatly appreciated. If you would like to participate or learn more, please contact Deb Rubenstein, RCC facilitator, at RCC@pbuuc.org
