Paint Branch Worship News

We are so excited to be gathering in person again! Starting this Sunday, November 20, our worship services will be held in person, with streaming to Zoom. Your presence matters – please join us in person for this special regathering if you can:

Time: 3:00 pm
Place: University Christian Church
6800 Adelphi Rd
Hyattsville, MD 20782

Here are a few more details:

The online experience: As we worship in person again, we want to make it possible for those who are not able to be at University Christian Church to be able to watch the service virtually. The UCC is allowing us to use their cameras and microphones so those at home who log into the Zoom link or watch on Facebook will see and hear what is happening in the sanctuary. We’re just starting to learn how to use this space and its technical capabilities, so please be patient. Unfortunately, people who are in person will not be able to see or interact with people on zoom.

Joys & Sorrows: If you are online and would like a joy or sorrow shared, please email your joy or sorrow to joys-sorrows@pbuuc.org by noon on Friday. People who are in the sanctuary will not see anything that is typed into the zoom chat. Those in the sanctuary will have an opportunity to write a joy or sorrow that will be shared aloud by the Pastoral Care Associate.

Coffee hour: We can gather in this space until 5:00 pm (the space must be clean and returned to the original setup by 5:00 pm). We are not going to offer food or drinks this week. If you are interested in organizing coffee hour cleanup on future Sundays, please let Ann know (minister@pbuuc.org). Once there is a cleanup team in place (as well as volunteers to purchase supplies, make coffee, etc.) we plan to phase in food and drink after the service.

Please note: we have access to the sanctuary, lobby, kitchen, Room 4 and bathrooms. Please do not go into other parts of the building.

Masks: Out of care for one another, everyone is expected to wear a high quality mask (KN94 or KN95 or better) while indoors; those with a medical condition that makes such a mask problematic may wear a medical grade surgical mask. Speakers may remove their mask while speaking from the chancel.

If you are ill, or have symptoms that are consistent with covid, influenza or RSV infection, please join us online.

Personal Contact: As we come together, please be aware that tolerance for the risks of physical contact varies. When greeting one another, please ask before touching, and please state your preference (e.g., a wave, elbow bump, hand clasp or hug) clearly.

Service Cancellation: If the in-person service needs to be cancelled due to weather or illness, a notice will be posted on the church website and the church Facebook page. Unless otherwise noted, the service will take place online only.

Holding worship in this new space will take some adjustment, but we are doing it together and it is wonderful to finally be present to each other in this way.

Hope to see you there!
