Good News re: Church Property

Board of Trustees logo

Dear Members and Friends of Paint Branch,

On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I am happy to share good news.

Friday afternoon, December 29th, the Board met in a special session and voted unanimously to enter a contract for the sale of the church property. The contract was signed immediately.

I can’t share the identity of the buyer because of confidentiality requirements. I can say that the buyer is a Washington-area based religious community. We are gratified that the presumptive buyer is clearly enthusiastic about the property and eager to begin using the Meeting House for worship.

The buyer has agreed to pay $2.8 million for the property. The church’s buildings and grounds are being sold “as is.” We will not be required to make any repairs.

A closing date hasn’t been set but could take place as soon as later this month. A cautionary reminder: the sale is not complete until closing.

Our friends from the Silver Oaks Cooperative School (SOCS) will remain on the property until their lease with PBUUC expires in June. SOCS has already found a new home.

The Board will keep you informed as the sale proceeds. In the meantime, feel free to contact us at bot@pbuuc.org. We will share with you all the information we can.

We wish you, those you love, and our beloved Paint Branch a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year.

See you in church!
Leo
Board Chair
