The Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) Is Developing A Virtual Hymnal.
We Can All Participate In This Process
Imagine web access to hundreds of UU hymns that you can search for and confidently use in a range of events—from worship to social justice vigils! In close consultation with the Association for Unitarian Universalist Music Ministries (AUUMM), the UUA has begun exploring what the next hymnal might include—and its Virtual Hymnal Task Force has been at work since March 2023. As a next step, all UUs are invited to have a say in which hymns will be considered.
Listed in the link below are 223 hymns from Singing The Living Tradition (gray hymnal) and Singing The Journey (teal hymnal) that are candidates for inclusion in the beta edition of the Virtual Hymnal. These are hymns that have no copyright or domain issues and are thus the first to be considered.
Please use this link to review the list and make your selections. Responses are due Monday, July 15.
Looking For A Song Leader For Sunday, July 21
The Worship Associates will continue to use Song Leader volunteers from the congregation to lead the PBUUC Singers on Sunday mornings. The Song Leader will work with the Worship Associate to select 2 -3 pieces for each Service. The music will be sent out by e-mail on Mondays and there will be a rehearsal in the Choir Room of UCC at 2:15 on Sundays for that week’s music. Jeanne Judd and Debra Street will be Song Leaders on July 7, 14, and 28. We need someone to step forward for the July 21 Service. Please contact carolcarterwalker@earthlink.net if you’re interested in exploring this opportunity further. If you can provide instrumental music, we’d love to hear from you, too.
Be Part of Our Annual General Assembly Service Sunday, July 28
Did you attend the 2024 General Assembly in June? If so, would you like an opportunity to share your experiences with the rest of the congregation? And process and hear the perspectives of other attendees?
The Worship Associates are asking all 2024 GA attendees to share their experiences during the July 28 GA Service. You have the option to be part of the planning and/or participation in the Service.
If you’re interested, please come to a meeting this Sunday, July 7 from 4:00 to 4:45, right after the end of the Sunday Service. The meeting will be in the Church Office.
Please RSVP to Carol Carter Walker in person or via e-mail at carolcarterwalker@earthlink.net. Indicate whether you’ll attend in person or on Zoom, so we can make suitable arrangements.
