Paint Branch is resuming our Special Collections program.
Our first collection will be for the UUA Disaster Relief Fund that will help communities recover from Hurricane Helene, but also from Hurricane Milton.
The UUA Disaster Relief Fund receives donations from congregations and individuals who want to support Unitarian Universalist congregations and their wider communities in need after a disaster. Grants from the Disaster Relief Fund help congregations care for their buildings and the needs of their members, as well as supporting people in the wider community, especially those who may not be eligible for other grant programs. The UUA understands the connection between disaster relief and justice making. It is the most vulnerable populations who suffer worst in a disaster. Disaster Relief Grants to our UU congregations and related organizations not only help other Unitarian Universalists, they can also support on the ground relief efforts through existing partnerships that congregations already have.
Envelopes for checks and cash will be available during the offertory for those attending in person. Checks should be written to PBUUC with “UUA Disaster” in the memo line. For those attending on-line (or watching the football game), we will try to have a drop-down item for those donating through Breeze. If that doesn’t work, feel free to donate directly to the UUA here: https://www.uua.org/giving/disaster-relief. Or you can Text DISASTER to 51555.
