We launch our October worship theme of Rootedness with an exploration of uprootedness. The Doctrine of Discovery is a principle of international law dating from a 15th century papal decree that sanctioned and promoted the conquest, colonization, and exploitation of non-Christian territories and peoples around the world. This service will explore Unitarian Universalists’ role in implementing this doctrine in its running of Indian Boarding Schools and in some more recent practices.
